As I sit here in my 4th week of a distel bicep tear recovery, I can't really do a whole lot in the garage, I came across this article. Nice review of one of my favorite topics. Not sure who 'Yeah Motors' is, but the Top 25 write up seemed to be pretty comprehensive.

Source Data: Car & Driver
As a comparison, even the Mighty 1967 427 Corvette wasn't able to out run the Cobra according to Car & Driver's article from way back in the day.
In 1967, the Corvette 427 was one of the quickest production cars C/D had ever tested, topped only by Shelby Cobras. With two aboard (a passenger was needed to click the stopwatches back then), one coupe clocked 4.7 seconds to 60 mph and 13.6 seconds at 105 mph in the quarter-mile.
With that said, I can't wait to make a pass in my Dark Side Ride to see how it stacks up because my goal has always been to dip solidly into the 11's.

122219 Don't know about the 67/427 Corvette (being faster). But my 68/427 was in No-Way 'faster than' my Cobra ....

Some IIRC notes. Pure stock both 1967's had about the same rated power & torque in the "street" engines. Cobra was about 1000lbs lighter with better & wider GoodYear blue line/dot tires. A lot of the 427 street Cobras were actually cheaper 428 Police Interceptors. Both Ford S/C 427 & Chevy L88 427's had the secret sauce with unknown true horsepower.
Looked at both & bought the StingRay. Did not think the Cobra would be a good plan in NJ.
427 Cobra was quicker Corvette had a bit more more top speed.

Ouch! Here's to a speedy recovery.

Might have the same thing in my left arm, need to have it checked out. In 2006 had right shoulder rotator cuff & bicep rebuilt. Went into the hospital day after my then new Acura TL 6MT was delivered. Got to look at it for a while.

Funny what we thought was fast back then isn't it?

And they shocked the world with those numbers back then. I found out it's not easy to hit those quick times. I just finished my break-in 1000 miles and decided to try the 0 to 60 staging function on the FFR vintage speedo gauge the other day. Mind you, I've had no recent experience and no instruction on how to properly clutch and launch this rocket, and as a result my first attempt resulted in sideways travel all the way to 70 mph and a 5.2 sec time. My second attempt was only sideways from second gear up to 60+ mph and a 4.2 sec time. I'm pretty sure I can shave another second off with proper application of those foot levers, though.
Here's to a speedy recovery and I feel for you, I developed carpel tunnel in both arms and severe numbness at night while working on the Cobra. It all went away, thankfully, when I stopped the heavy wrenching.

Less throttle & more tire? I launch around 1500/1800RPM with very little wheel slippage. Have 100 treadware 315 tires. For what its worth my 440i coupe will do 3.9 seconds on the built in factory lap timer with a good launch & up to 4.4 on a bad one. The Cobra will eat its lunch & steal its candy money.

Hope to have my replacement Speedhut gauges installed this winter with the 0-60 function.

Less throttle did help. Already have the Nitto 315s, but the tread-wear is 200 and it was low 50s day. Lots of improvement to be had with warm day/road and technique I'm sure. I'll take it to the track this spring to give it my best.

The 427 Cobra produced by Ford in England????
AC Cobras - made in England.
Shelby Cobras - made in USA. (With global materials)
Neither produced by Ford.
The article also says this - " Try to find one of these and you could spend as little as $100,000 or more than $5 million,"
When you see one for $100,000, let me know. I'll be heading to the bank. Then after a weekend of driving, straight to Barrett-Jackson.

Your Factory Five runs circles around an original Cobra.
