Way off subject, but maybe applicable for some.
I am considering some racing shoes. I have wide feet. ,,,would like some recommendations on sizing and quality.
Just for example, I am looking at Bell Viper III and Sparco KB4s. Neither list their product in size widths.
I might just grind the edge of the sole off my NB. ,,, any experienced advise?

I'll be watching the responses too. I drive right now with one shoe on my left foot only ;)

I usually wake up and remember, I could do a search. Here is something mentioned earlier on this site.

I’ve raced with Spearco and Alpinestars shoes and I actually liked the Alpinestars more personally. I wear a 9.5 regular and I found the Alpinestars and Spearco shoes fit fairly true to size. With wide feet you may need to find a race shop and just try them on and find what works.

I’m interested too. I currently use my thinnest tennis shows and spacing is fine, certainly better than my Columbia walking shoes that I forget to take off sometimes. But, holding the clutch down for extended periods like at a long light becomes uncomfortable with thin soles. I’m wondering if the driving shoes account for that? I know the Wilwood clutch pedal is arched, so wonder if a flat pedal would help with that.

I also recommend looking at wrestling shoes too by ASICS

Vans, converse work great. I’ve got a pair of piloti driving sneakers I really like.
Anything thin sole and narrow really

Do you need certified fire resistant racing shoes? Or driving shoes?

I have big (14) feet, but more on the narrow side. I wear Puma Night Cats. There are speed cats, drift cats, and whatever else cats.

I tried some Pilotis. But not quite long enough for me.

This is actually a response to post #5- I learned a long time ago to slip the tranny into neutral when stopped for any length of time. It helps save the clutch release bearing and also might help crankshaft thrust bearing wear.

Yeah, me too, but some of these lights today you just don’t know when it’s gonna go or even what it’s gonna do next.

I would go to Zappo's web site and search. They let you search by size and width. I wear Docker type boat shoes. I trim the sole back on the side about an 1/8 inch.

This type shoe w/ the thinner sole

Have an E width. Used Puma, Sparco, RJS & RaceQuip both shoes & boots. Use a site like Amazon that will let you send them back if they don't fit. Also read the customer notes as the sizes don't always match up to regular shoes/boots.

Got some cheap but comfortable black tennis shoes from Prospect. Took the grinding wheel to both sides of the upper edges of the sole to narrow them up a bit. Fit me and the pedals like a glove!

I have narrow feet and the Pumas are snug. I think the original post said he had wide feet. Vans are minimalist and stretch well for wide feet.

I agree. My feet are on the narrow side and Pumas are a perfect width for me. I can't wear Vans, which is a bummer since they make checkered ones.

RJS SFI Racing Driving Shoes (https://amzn.to/2SlI6dt), nice and slim and SFI safety (https://sfifoundation.com/article-1/) built in as well...

I have several friends who like these, and they're only used for driving their car - not really daily wear :) unless you like that!

I was looking at Piloti shoes. They have a ton of different options that look like normal everyday shoes.

I have piloti shoes. They are really nice, well-made shoes, especially the more expensive models. I either use these or just my everyday converse.

Aqua socks (water socks). I will sometimes wear them in my plane and my car. Way more feeling in the pedals and more room to negotiate tight spaces.

I wear the Sperry's too. Note that the feel of these shoes is quite soft, like a slipper. They're great for driving, but you wouldn't want to stand around at a cocktail party/rum bar/kegger for more than an hour or so.

I also like Vans lace-up tennis shoes. They're not quite as soft as the Sperry's.

The Speery shoes look close to the driving shoes Duluth Trading offers which I have but I'm not on the road yet so no experience.

I bought a pair of Puma's (with a Ferrari logo) on sale from Amazon. They work well for me but feel a little narrow.

The BMW logo Puma's are the narrowest of my shoes. Some brands have actual width selections which can work better.

I wear a size 13EE, so wide and long. I have multiple pairs of Puma shoes, and some run wider in the toe box than others. I have also had good luck with some of the Adidas soccer shoes for being a fairly good fit and narrow enough to use in a tight pedal setup.

I also like loafer style shoes, Cole Haan Venetian Driver loafers fit really well and still look nice when I can't wear a driving shoe or sneaker. The Cole Haan runs in wide widths but are "compact" shoes.

Puma Invicto, Sala are two brands that fit my wider larger feet better than other models.

I have wide feet and have had good luck with Sketchers relaxed fit. My feet fit and leave plenty of room in the footbox.

Not directly related to shoe choice, but definitely to the feet. I have diabetic neuropathy. After driving where I have to use the clutch quite a bit I get a lot of foot pain, kind of like standing on a ladder for a long time. Work shoes or boots would solve the problem but obviously not possible. So, I cut a piece of aluminum into the shape of an insert for my left driving shoe, then put the foam insert over it. It made a big difference, spreading the load over the whole foot instead of just one spot.

My car is a week or two from go cart, but after reading this thread, I put some time into testing my foot/shoe combo on the pedals. My feet are also wide and I normally wear a 9.5 to 10 Reebok tennis shoes. While adequate and functional, the Reeboks are still a tad wide for the pedal box and grab the adjacent pedals a bit if I'm not paying attention. I am told the Pumas should arrive Monday, I'll follow up on how they fit/feel.

Another tip is shift the pedal pads to the left, I also ended up cutting about half inch or so off the pedal pads, basically cut one set of holes off. Way better.
