Trying to determine the best way to mount this bracket to the frame, not sure if rivets will hold. What are your recommendations?

I use rivnuts.

Agree rivnuts would work fine, and I use them a lot. Another choice for that particular location though is a couple flat head through bolts. The body covers the heads of the bolts on the top of the frame rail.

Here's what I did:

I used the flat head screws that Paul suggested and tapped threads into the 1/4 inch aluminum for the reservoir. I could also have drilled through the aluminum and run longer screws with nuts on the back side. Just be aware that mounting through the rail from the side like I did will require some clearencing along the lip of the hood opening on the body. Using an angle bracket would solve that issue.

Thanks again guys. Looks like i'll be ordering some rivnuts.

also a huge fan of Rivnuts. some think it is over kill but IMO it beats drilling out rivets any day.

I'm working on the same issue right now. I'm thinking of using a piece of .090 aluminum with a 90 degree bend as a mount to the bottom of the 3/4 tube. I'll use 10-24 rivnuts to hold it in place. I'll be using 3 reservoirs (front, rear and clutch). To keep the spacing of the reservoirs compact, I'm thinking of a staggered pattern of the clamping brackets. Or should I mount them butted next to each other as shown?

You can mount them level or staggered, but just be sure they are mounted higher than the master brake and clutch cylinders.

I ended up going with the 1/4 inch aluminum after first using 0.60 and seeing how much the reservoirs vibrated. The only thing I'd change from what I did would be to use a nice thick piece of 90 degree angle as the mounting bracket. I'd mount it under the chassis tube and then mount my aluminum plate to the angle bracket from the side. I'd suggest doing 3/4 x 1-1/2" on the angle bracket.

I bolted the bracket through and through to the inside of the 3/4" tube

Completely agree on rivnuts.

Those brackets mount the reservoirs very far apart. If it were me, I would at least be making a new rear part of the bracket out of aluminum and getting the front brackets butted up against each other. I would actually go for making a new bracket for the whole thing and get them very close.

Being me, I would spend a bunch of garage time to get this. I am a balance and proportion guy.

I just modified the FFR mounting bracket and tapped 1/4 - 20 threads in the back. I'm going to mount a piece of mirror stainless to the side of the 3/4 bar with rivets and then attach the brackets. I've been back and forth with reservoirs, havent found the right one yet.

Here is what I was able to fab up this afternoon. I tried to mount each reservoir equally spaced about 1.25" apart. I used rivnuts to mount to the panel. I then plan on using 4-5 rivnuts on the under side of the 3/4 tube.

I'd like to get the reservoir panel powder coated, but my local shop charges a flat set up fee of $75 each time I go in. So I really don't want to pay that for just one piece. Does anybody know of a good paint that closely matches the matt finish of the chassis powder coat?

Thanks
