I have ordered a Cobra kit and would like to know at what point in the build is the best time to paint it. Could I paint it first, setting on the frame in a cradle? Or paint it on the body rack or on the completed car?

I suggest look at build threads. You first mock everything up like it is finished, then either paint it on the chassis or remove and do it on a body buck. I have had it done both ways. My painter/body guy likes on the chassis the best.

Some only paint after driving in gel coat to work out any bugs. I did that for the first season and am glad I did although I really did want to get it painted. You could certainly paint at any time I guess but you have to consider fitting the body into the chassis.

I've done it both ways although I believe from a painters perspective it's easier off the chasis. You need to mock up the whole car on the chasis and do all required body work and fitment first, then either remove and paint or shoot it right on the chasis.

Put the whole car together first drill all your holes mount everything. After it’s all put together check your bank account and see if the funds are available? If the funds are available then paint it if not then drive it a year or two till you have the funds.

My painter said the same thing you said so that’s what I’ll do, thanks.
