View Full Version : roll bar installation
We are working on a roadster, its an older project car for us (o6 car I believe), the book says roll bars are installed at 6 degrees, can get it to 8 with big racket strap on it, any ideas?
Thanks

Then the down tubes probably won't fit.

The bar and it's brace should drop right into the mounts without any forceful bending. Try just dropping it in. I don't think anyone will notice if it's at 6 or 8 degrees.

Sometimes you need to clean up the inside of the roll bar tubes and the outside of the mounts to help them go in. There is a nub on the mounts that is a stop. Don't knock that off.

Using a flex hone (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B002XUL072/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_image?ie=UTF8&psc=1) on the insides of the outer tubes will also help smooth the installation.

they wouldn't go, cleaned burrs and cleaned all ends so they would drop on alone, I did get them to go, had to beat on them with the big dead blow to get them in. we will drill them and then the challenge will be to get them out. Thanks for the help!!!!

I think I misunderstood your post. I was thinking you wanted to change the angle of the bars. As for hard fitting, check the width of the bars, compared to the mounting stubs. I had to spread my bars before they would fit over the stubs. You can take a wooden down, split one end and put a piece of sand paper in the split, chuck it in a drill and sand away. I had a devil of a time with mine, but I had a fullwidth bar with seat belt attachments on it.
