I have the 6 gauge cluster from FFR to be installed in my 33 roadster. I have a couple of questions before I wire everything up. The speedometer ensor to pick up the GPS signal, in the instructions it says to mount on the roof (not practical) or on the dashboard (unacceptable). It says it may work if mounted under some materials like fiberglass. I want to just glue it to the underside of the cowl. Anyone had experience in this working? Second, all the gauges and sending units come with their own cables and connectors all made up yet the wiring harness has wires for the same senders. I'm thinking of using the gauge supplied wires and cutting the gauge wires out of the harness - make sense? Wiring is not one of my strong points.

As long as you have the GPS sensor facing up under some fiberglass it will work. I use the gauge wires not the Ron Francis ones except I do use the Ron Francis fuel tank wires vs the gauge though. Test the GPS sensor location first and see if the gauge can find the satellites.

Just to piggy back off of what wallace18 said, my sensor is just mounted to the highest cross tube on the inner firewall and seems to work fine. It does struggle to acquire a signal while I am in the shop (steel building), but other than that no problems.
