Working on the Body Fitting. I have the front and rear quick jack bolts in place with the brackets on the front. the front quick jack bolts are centered in the holes. will check the side to side positioning to the shock towers tomorrow.

The body is about 1/4" ahead of the door latch striker plate as shown in the following pics.

There is about 1/8" gap between the rear cowl and the aluminum to the back of the passenger compartment. I'm thinking i should trim the lip so i can get the carpet behind the cowl lip.

My main concern is the position over the dash. The body seems to be sitting high relative to the dash. when i push down on the top of the body, i goes down 1/8" on the DS, 5/8" in the center, and 1/4" on the PS. it is compressing the firewall bulb seal some as shown by this pic.

Are you attached under the doors ? Make sure your body isn't contacting the dash at the ends under the door jamb. and yes your doors are going to be low. I have filled the upper front corners for the past 20 years...daBat

i have not attached under the doors yet, but it is under the frame as needed. the body is touching the dash at the DS just to the left of the 3/4" tube. It has about 1/4" clearance on the PS.

Should i expect the body to be about 1/2" above the 3/4" tube in the center?

Thanks

Dash should be mounted 3/16in below the top of the tube on the ends and yes the relation of the body and the tube between the ends can vary from car to car. What you are seeing is not uncommon...da bat

Don’t know if this a common but, when I installed the body on mine it gradually settled to conform to the frame. It took about a week in warm temps. I assumed this is one of the reasons it is recommended by the experts to do the body work one the frame.

Agreed ! When I install the bodies after paint I like them to sit on the frame for a few hours or I just keep chasing door adjustment.
