Hello all,

My name is Travis, I have been lurking around here for quite awhile and am starting to gather information, knowledge, recommendations from users here on building my first FF Mk4. I have a lot of questions and I was hoping I could possibly even connect with someone in the Sacramento area that has gone through this process. I have a pretty decent history of working on vehicles but definitely a you tube weekend warrior mechanic. My plan is to research and read a lot over the summer and hopefully order my kit this fall. My youngest son and I just last year finished off a '62 VW Beetle restoration that was partially done when we bought the car, we did a new engine, trans, disc brakes, welded in new floor pans, stereo upgrade, gauges, etc. It was a fun experience with my son who is heading off to college this fall.

The MK4 will be my bucket list build, so I want to make sure and do it right and I am ready for a new challenge.

Looking forward to reading and following different threads on this forum, there seems to be a wealth of knowledge on here I am hoping to capture.

Thank you :D

Welcome to the forum! I've built hotrods all my life. The MKII was the most fun to build and the best driving car out of all them.I sold the MKII a while back because I could not get in and out of it without a great deal of problems. My back is totally shot' Can't do the twisting and turning to get in it. It was on my bucket list of cars to own,and I will always miss it.Right now I have a 1965 Falcon Furtura. If your going to build one do it while your health is good. Roger

Cars and coffee gets alot of cars - typically they try to go on the 3rd saturday. I have not been out there for a while.

Look up cars and coffee Folsom. It looks like last Sat they had cars from the FvsF movie there.

Hey Fman
Welcome to the madness. I just built the 289 USRRC model. Its basically the same car as the MK4, but with a different body. I’m in Elk Grove if you want to see my car and chat.

Well I got some good news, I just sold my '62 VW and my wife has agreed to let me order the chassis and get started immediately! soooo.... I should be ordering my kit in the next couple weeks. Pretty dang excited, still have to decide on exactly how I want to order the car.
