Other than Stewart, what is some other options? I booked Stewart about 5 weeks ago when I purchased my complete kit, now the kit completion date has passed an Stewart is backlogged to the point that when I called yesterday for a ship date, I’m still about a month out from pick up.

Where are you located? No chance you can pick it up yourself?!

If you are in GA, I'd just wait on Stewart.

I was thinking about it, but if you pick it up yourself then you have to pay sales tax which is $1500

Probably what I’ll do. This wait is killing me. It’s been 5 weeks since I paid for it, and to find out I still don’t have a ship date and he said it could be another month before pick up. Just checking options.

I picked my 818C kit up from the factory and didn't pay MA taxes - I paid for it from MD and I don't believe it matters how it gets to you tax-wise. We flew into Providence for dirt cheap and rented a U-Haul (3 day minimum rental, so you can easily get to GA in that time) - make a road trip of it, plus you get to see the Factory and meet the staff:

If you want to ship it freight, you'll have to crate it. On the taxes, if your state has a sales tax, you'll have to pay tax on it eventually. If you pick it up and pay tax then, your state will not double tax you. Some states require you to pay tax in the year you make the purchase, and others will collect it when you register the car.

When I first ordered the kit, they charged me $1450 for MA taxes. When I changed my order to Stewart they took the taxes off. I called Dave and told him they forgot to tax me, he said they only tax when you pick it up.

I bought a new Jeep Grand Cherokee In va and paid around 4K in taxes, moved to GA two months later, and they made me pay another 4K in ga taxes to register it. They only way I could of gotten out of it was if I paid ga taxes when I bought it.

I picked my kit up in December 2018 and they did not charge me MA tax - something may have changed since then. I will have to pay MD tax on it when I register the vehicle so you'll end up paying one way or another in most states.

The tax laws changed last year and FFR is required to collect tax on any sales picked up at their location.

I believe there are websites that have common carriers that bid on your freight. You might get someone to pick it up for you!

Wait for Stewart, they have the proper rig for your kit, the wait sucks, but that will pass and you'll have your kit and not even think about the wait afterwards. I prepped my garage and donor parts while I waited

Most likely be the route I’ll go. What’s another 4 weeks when I have already been waiting 5. Lol.

Agree, go with Stewart Transport! Not only do they have the experience proper equipment/crane to drop your kit on your chassis dolly (in which I'm planning for them to do for mine,) but the other part is seeing that beautiful truck with the awesome FFR banner arrive at your home. And of course, taking a few photos for the build journal. Now, I just know that has got to count for something? I mean, I'm <24hrs out from my delivery, and though the FFR banner will be dirty (due to the current snow storms occurring across multiple states,) it will just be a reminder for me as to what I would've had to deal with if I had driven to pick up the kit myself. All the snow, ice, cold, wrecks... and though I really wanted to take the drive and meet everyone at FFR, which would have been the best and so cool too. But if you can't have the real thing, then I'll take and trust FFR's Partners and I'm glad I chose to go with Sewart! Reasonable, Relaiable and Safe way to transport your kit - IMHO.

Agreed, but it won’t be in front of my house:( my neighborhood is a Bunch of cul-de-sacs so I’m probably gonna have to meet him at the Walmart a few miles away and figure out how to transport it from there to my house

Right, nelesond003. So, when you build your chassis dolly, build it solid and with anchor points! I was prepared for the same situaition. I'm on a <no outlet> road. Work with Stewart and the driver to see what is possible and be prepared to flat trailer or rental. Either way, take the extra time for preparation and knocking out the other "2-Do's" on that (never ending list) that we all seem to have, as you wait and be ready for the adventure to begin... I know I am!

Stewart is 1st Class... (sometimes their scheduling and backlog is steerage, but...)
As others have said, It'll all be a memory once the toys arrive.
