Looks like GTM #14 is to be scrapped. Here is the link on Copart.

It is going on the auction block Monday with a bill of sale and a Wisconsin Junk Title. The Junk title means it can never be licensed again for the road and sold only to a licensed dismantler. It is basically a certificate of destruction. Maybe a track car?
It looked like the repairs might not be too difficult. CoPart really did not know what they had claiming it had an automatic transmission! The cause of the accident may have been the left rear tie rod let loose and then it hit a tree. Too bad, with only 11 miles on it. Maiden voyages are always nerve racking.

I've been watching that one for several months now, easiest use would be a track only car, but some of the southern states are pretty lenient on registering kit cars and it could be titled if you did things the right way.

$8.7k with 1 hour left. I'd buy it if it was closer. Looks like an easy fix. I can't tell if the windshield is cracked.

Yup, Architect, Import/Export, and Latex sales. Soon to be GTM rebuilder.
Congrats Vandelay on a brilliant deal. You'll have loads of fun! I did what you did about a year ago. Keep us posted.

Glad I'm not the only Seinfeld fan.
I don't know who built that one, is it original paint or repainted? Where are you located?

I'm 30 min SW of Milwaukee. Paint appears to be original, I question the 13 miles, however the car was never titled in WI, IL, or IA. Sold for less than kit price, but nowhere near the 8700 I was at when the auction started. Damage in front is all forward of suspension bulkhead. Would be nice to find one locally to visit.

I wish I had seen this thread earlier. I knew of the accident and that it went to auction. I also was watching it, but, don't need another project nor do I have the room.
Vandelay, you can come see my build some time.
Accident occured in IL this summer. I believe it was in a shop in or around Northbrook IL and occured while they were out "test driving" it. I am not exactly sure street it occured on.

Just throwing this out there... Did someone forget to tighten down the left rear tie rod?

That was my first thought also.....since there doesn't appear to be any damage on that side of the car.....but it does look in the photo like maybe the wheel is damaged? So yeah, it would be interesting to know if the accident was caused by the tie rod coming loose, or if the accident caused the car to spin into a curb which broke the tie rod?

In NY its called a salvage title. If it is repaired it must be inspected by DMV to re title. The title will still show its salvage history.
