My gen 3 coyote should be arriving in the next week or so (from Mike Forte), and I’ve studied the install manual extensively. What changes or different instructions should I expect for the gen3 versus gen2 which is what all of the instructions reference? It is going into a 35 hot rod truck with a built performance automatic 6r80 auto.

Sorry about the double post, I’m using airplane internet and it didn’t cooperate.

I can't give you any specifics for the Hot Rod Truck or A/T. But I have installed a Gen 2 in a Roadster and a Gen 3 in a Coupe. There's more the same than different. I don't know if you have to swap oil pans. That was an issue early on because Ford changed the pan and pickup on the Gen 3, so the previous Moroso pickup didn't work. There's a Gen 3 Moroso pickup available now. The Gen 3 has a dual mass flywheel that didn't work on my build, so had to swap it out. Don't know how that affects your A/T installation. The Gen 3 requires 65 PSI fuel line pressure (vs 55) so you'll need to account for that. Everything I installed on mine (alternator, starter, KRC power steering, bell housing, engine mounts, headers, etc.) were all exactly the same between the two. The control pack harness has some differences. But pretty minor. Covered in the Ford Performance instructions. The PDB is the same. The Gen 3 has a different PCM (Bosch vs. Continental) which is larger and mounts differently. Factory Five did release a new installation guide for the Gen 3 Coyote. It's not on their instructions site, and is for the Roadster. But you could call and I'm sure they'd send you a copy. Don't know if they have any plans, or already have, installation instructions for your build. If you're interested (and some hours to kill) my Gen 3 Coupe build thread talks a lot about the Gen 3 Coyote. Link in my sig line below.
Hope that helps a little. Good luck.

Does anyone have any advice about the CMCV system on the Gen 3 Coyote? The instructions (Thanks for the recommendation EdwardB they sent them right over) dont line up with the system on my motor and the levers are somewhat different so the retainers that came with the Coyote fitment kit aren't matching up either. Presumably we still have to remove and override the system still right? And should I just fab up some longer brackets? Is there a reason one of them is curved? Last question- is there a plug in the coyote fitment kit for the open vac line, or should I just buy one that works? Thanks!

I personally haven't done a build where the CMCV vacuum motors and controls need to be removed. Fits OK in the Roadster and Coupe I've done. But do know they have to be removed for the regular Hot Rod, so no surprise sounds the same for the truck. If Factory Five is providing the lockout plates to hold them open once the motors are removed, maybe they aren't Gen 3 specific? Ford made changes and the two aren't compatible. Gen 2's used a ball socket. Gen 3's a straight shaft with a snap ring. Sounds like maybe the fit is different too. I've seen videos where guys wire them open with safety wire or even tie wraps. I'd probably still want the correct lockout parts. All the Mustang aftermarket places supply them. Assume you know you'll need a custom tune once the CMCV is deleted. But my recent experience with the Gen 3 is it needs a custom tune in all cases once the stock cold air intake isn't used. The MAF calibration on this engine is especially critical. Lund Racing did mine and it's running great. For the vacuum lines, I did this write-up which describes what I found based on study plus testing. Maybe it helps. https://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?26630-Edwardb%92s-Gen-3-Type-65-Coyote-Coupe-59-Build-Graduation-Thread-Posted&p=351623&viewfull=1#post351623.

You need to remove the CMCV system in a pickup, Yes they will have to be tuned out or you will get a check engine light. This is new, The Gen II could just be unplugged with no Check engine light. Just make a bracket or two and make sure the baffles are wide open. If you are asking about the vacuum feed to the CMCV I don't think a cap is included for that port.
You also need a 90 degree fitting for the fuel rail sensor at the back of the motor. If you don't have one you cannot get the motor back far enough. If you don't have this fitting it is special and can only be had from FFR. I think I have a couple extras if you need one PM me and I will see if I can get one to you. (Since FFR is closed)
The oil pan does not need to be changed for install in a Pickup/hotrod.

Is there an advantage of the Gen 3 over the Gen 2?

You mean beside more HP, more torque, and Gen 2's have been out of production for 3+ years and good luck finding one? No, none that I can think of. :o

The CMCV lockout hardware that came with my kit was for a gen2 Coyote, and the arms are a little bit different for the Gen3. I understand FFR would probably just send me hardware that would fit, but given the situation with COVID-19 they are shut down so I came up with these in the shop today. Any reason these won’t work? I haven’t wrapped my head around all of the other parts that might interfere. So i thought I would defer to the experts! 126194

My Gen 3 fitment kit came with the CMCV lock out brackets for right and left sides of manifold, also came with vacuum line cap. Looks like the hardware you crafted should work.

Thanks for this post on 4-2-20 regarding Gen 3 installs.
I trying to get my Gen3 engine ready to install in my HR chassis the FFR install instructions are dismal at best. Have you installed one of the 90 degree 10M-1.0 90 degree FFR bubble fittings on the fuel injection rail on the back of the engine? I put the fitting in and just snugged it slightly to check fit and it clocks 180 degrees off from where it needs to be to re-install the pressure sender. No way this fitting is going to work.
Any solution or experience you can share???

Read your post about Gen 3 install. Have you performed the HP fuel sensor relocation on the back of the engine. The 90 fitting supplied by FFR in the Coyote Gen 3 Fitment Kit does not appear to work, at least in my experience as it does not tighten into the correct position to allow the sensor to be reinstalled.
Any success on this issue?
