Hey there Factory Fiver’s. My name is Casey, I live in Cotati, California. I’m in the conceptual stages of planning a Cobra build, and heavily considering the Factory Five MKIV 289 USRRC Roadster as a potential starting point for a CSX2431 inspired build. I’m no stranger to cars, and have hopped-up or restored (and hopped-up AND restored) a number of cars over the years, but I’ve decided that now I want to get out on the race track...like yesterday. I don’t imaging that I’ll jump into any kind of competitive or wheel-to-wheel racing, but time trials and HPDE events, for which I think the 289 USRRC car should likely pass NASA tech is my current goal right now. I would build the challenge car, but I’m such a sucker for originality, that I just can’t get excited about it.
Anyway, like a lot of Newbs (I’m sure), I have a barrage of questions. And with that, I’m going to go try to figure out where to post them.
So...howdy!
Casey

Hi Casey,
Welcome to the forum. Well, I have to admit, I had to look up Cotati. Turns out you're not too far from Thunderhill Raceway so you'l have a nice place to run the USRCC. Glad to have you here and please feel free to fire away with any and all questions!

Thanks David,
I’m actually really close to Sear’s Point Sonoma Raceway, but they’re pretty particular about what they’ll let on the track. Like most folks do prior to a large purchase, I’m heavy into the research right now. That’s the biggest thing I’m confused about. I don’t have aspirations of wheel to wheel racing, but I can’t imagine having a cobra and NOT driving it on the track; I’ve been getting a LOT of conflicting information as to whether they’ll let a USRRC on the track at all. I posted my first questions in the regional forum, but there’s not a lot of action over there. I get the impression that this forum suffers from too many sub-forums. Do they frown on people posting more general discussion in the areas that actually seem to get some action?
Thanks,
Casey

There are General forums for each model, so for the roadster its:
https://thefactoryfiveforum.com/forumdisplay.php?2-Roadster
Or you can use the more generic General discussions forum:
https://thefactoryfiveforum.com/forumdisplay.php?9-General-Discussions
...Or your regional forum:
https://thefactoryfiveforum.com/forumdisplay.php?18-NorCal-Discussions
But you aren't restricted to these forums....

I’m in Cotati also, but I’m building a 33. I can say F5 has been a good company to deal with.
