was having a leak issue from the fuel level sender gasket.
Finally got around to disassemble it.
The issue is not the gasket, as I thought, rather it is the locking ring that retains the sender.
My tank requires a locking ring with 4 lugs, as is on the fuel pump, but the installed ring was a 3 lug.
Thus, not a good seal.
All the catalogs I have show only 3 lug rings.
Where to get a 4 lug?
What years used a 4 lug?
What should I be searching for?

What did the pump and tank come out of or what were they designed for? I searched for Ford fuel pick up locking ring and see a few different 4-lug options for tractors or trucks.

Thanks, but no joy.
I need a 4 lug that's 3" OD.
Don't know what it's out of, but it looks like a Foxbody.

If you know the model and year of the vehicle the tank came out of, try Rock Auto: https://www.rockauto.com/.

Yes, but I don't.
To be clearer, the tank has 4 lugs to engage the lock ring in 4 places.

Will need the lock ring from a kit Do not think it is sold separately. https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=1355151&cc=1134133&jsn=629&jsn=629&jsn=629
1994 GT had two types of lock rings, 3 tab and 4, see pictures, both are included in kit.

Looks like 94 - 97 mustang. Discontinued and no longer available. None on eBay. Might try a bone yard

You are referring to the large tabs on the lock ring not the 4 smaller tabs that you use to twist the lock ring in place? Just making sure as I have a number of those lock rings on my parts shelf but none with 4 large tabs.

The lock ring on the left is what he's looking for, only found in the kit, not able to source alone.

I have a 2016 MK-IV. I had a similar leak but found the gasket had a twist.

I took my retaining ring and gasket down to the local auto parts store and told them it was a 97ish mustang tank. They brought a few out and we found the match. Sorry, dont have the part #. The OEM gasket was thicker and the retain ring felt a little sturdier. Worked like a charm.

ASP Bite I have some - just order a 30136 at www.breezeautomotive.com or call me at 508 533 6455 and mention you need the 4-tab type.
Do you also need one for the fuel pump?
