I was reassembling my windshield and one of the brass/copper looking L brackets broke in half. Bracket has two smaller screws on each side to hold the frame to the windshield. Anyone source these L brackets locally or is it something I'll have to go back to FFR for?

Sorry to hear that. I can't help with that, but it does remind me that I am missing a chrome screw from the side of the windscreen frame. I hope those that know where you can get your bracket also know where one could get just one screw.

Just heard the same story at the barn, other day. FFR does have the brass 90*s as he talked them into replacing his. I would try some sheet stainless and make it. The screws should be available at Ace or Lowes.

McMaster-Carr has pretty much any nut, bolt, screw you could ever need. ID the style, size and thread pitch and I'll bet you can find it there. The only problem is you won't be able to buy just one.

Albany County Fasteners (www.albanycountyfasteners.com) is another source that I use. They will sell you just one, but at an inflated price.

Are you talking about the screws that secure the side rails to the glass frame?

I believe the 8mm length are the screws needed

Thanks, looks like Mcmaster has them. I don't mind paying ten bucks to fix the problem, but 100 of them? Oh well, Ace would charge me 3 bucks each so...

Sorry for the hijacked thread. I like the idea of making your own bracket, though I wonder if it needs to be made of brass for a reason.

You could make it from brass and probably be a better grade than what comes on the windshield.

I see that. As long as they marry up with the holes in the frame, then they should be good to go.

I often get onesie-twosie quantities of hardware at https://www.boltdepot.com. Prices are very reasonable, and with a small order arrive quickly via USPS.

That looks like it might be handy!

I think the brass is just an inexpensive way to avoid rust. SS would obviously work but it is more difficult to machine.

As an FYI, FFR doesn’t have these brass brackets. Said they were working with the vendor but no ETA on availability. I have some of those from McMaster Carr ordered.
