Can this tank be used on the coyote cooling system? If so, which upper port to radiator, which port to the little port on upper hose port. not enough room for the one everyone is using. thanks.

I’m trying to shop for a “universal” coolant tank for the Coyote also. Looking at Moroso and Canton, both have many options for round or square tanks, pressure caps (radiator style) or screw on caps (S550 Mustang style). Not sure how many ports I need or the configuration of the tank yet, or which cap style would be best.
All the while I have to remind myself, the tank needs to sit as high as possible in the engine bay...so that will determines which tank shapes will fit. I wanted to put it on or inside of the two small triangles in front of the engine, just behind the radiator opening (like your picture shows), but I’m afraid it might be too low in the chassis to work properly.

Works fine in that location on my Gen 3 Coupe/Gen 3 Coyote build. More details in my build thread. Went round and round about this topic on the forum plus with Ford engineering. Several different opinions but went for it. Not driven much yet, but extensive running through multiple heat cycles and the cooling system works exactly like it's supposed to. The Ford designed system is about pressure as much as gravity. Within reason of course.
Regarding that tank from the OP, can't give too much guidance. X2 on using a tank from Moroso (what I've used twice) or Canton that are specifically designed as replacements for the Mustang OE plastic tank. Have the necessary connections. Also important to use the proper Ford hoses, including the one from the top of the tank to the radiator with the one-way valve. Otherwise, just plug everything up and use the gravity overflow tank plus T-filler that Factory Five shows in their instructions.

Logan - seen a few different spots done.. i have raised and lowered my tank with little effect on cooling at the track or on the street.... the fan shroud made the MOST difference....for the street.
you will need 3 ports - same as OE
1. Supply
1. return
1. small "air pocket" relief line to the top of the tank.... I think this is the line that really lets you mount the tank (with in reason) in any location in our engine bay...
as edwardb mentions - the pressure of the water pump will push that water where it needs to go... the little line at the top will take car of the air in the system so you don't get any boiling points...
this is more of a Degas / expansion tank application and not a recover tank application so you can live with level with the port on the top of the motor..... as long as you a drawing the air off the top of the motor...
For reference... my heater lines are higher than my degas tank and those lines are always full of water and hot ( when the engine is running) ... but again as mentioned above... there are check valves and restrictors in the OEM line - I am also running those.

All, I'm updating my coolant tank plumbing to use the same parts list that edwardb has used in his builds. I tried ordering part# fr3z-8075-c ( upper hose that connects to the radiator ) but it appears that part is discontinued. I received part# jl3z-8075-c instead. jl3z-8075-c does not have a check valve installed. Does anyone know if I can get a check valve separately ? If so, what part # ?
thanks!

That's weird. I ordered the FR3Z-8075-C hose from Tasca Parts about 18 months ago for my Coupe build and received it. But you're right. They're showing it discontinued now. Checked several part sources, including Tasca, and it still shows in the exploded parts view for multiple Mustang years with the Coyote, up to 2019. But it's not on the list. The diagrams just skip the number. Maybe go to a Ford dealer and have their parts guys dig into it? There has to be something available since it appears the part is still used in production. Maybe there's a different part number now. But that JL3Z-8075-C part doesn't show being used on a Coyote. I'm not aware of a separate check valve.

I just ordered this part last week from FCOEMPARTS (dotcom). It arrived yesterday, but I haven’t been home to open it up and inspect yet. Same part number all the Ford parts fiche’s list for Mustang coolant expansion, and same as EdwardB used. FR3Z-8075-C. Spendy little thing though... simple rubber hose with a check valve inside costs right at $60 shipped.

Good catch. Hopefully they have it. My go to, Tasca Parts, shows it discontinued as well as a few other places I looked. Plus not indicated on the Ford diagrams as I mentioned. Strange. Agree it's pricey for what it is. But important for the proper function of the expansion tank.

I've ordered the hose from FCOEMPARTS and will be returning the other hose back to getoemparts. Definitely pricey for that little hose ;)

Thanks everyone for this post and important to me information. I've also got the Moroso Degas Tank for my in process Gen 3 Coupe build with Gen 2 Coyote but somehow wasn't aware of this hose with check valve until this morning. One of the countless benefits of keeping active and checking the FFR Forums. I've also just ordered the FR3Z-8075-C hose from FCOEMPARTS.com. which is currently on sale at $50.98, totaling $59.80 with shipping.

Hi gents,
The previous owner of my coupe made these nice custom tanks (coolant & PS.)
I asked my friend who has a machine shop if he can make these and he said yes.
If you have fabrication skills then just take the idea and enjoy.
This setup looks clean and saves room

Mark & Bob - I have just opened the package containing the FR3Z-8075-C hose from FCOEMPARTS and I can confirm it is the real deal, check valve included. I was worried they might have listed it under the old part number, and shipped a part with a superseded PN (as Mark noted), but thankfully that is not the case with my order. Got the genuine article.

Awesome Logan. I received shipment notification this morning. Hopefully I get the same part ;)

Excellent. Glad you got the same genuine part as I did. Really like the idea of duplicating the Ford Mustang designed cooling loop instead of the old school traditional setup. Now get that hose installed and build on!

Tried to locate the expansion tank hose FR3Z-8075-C and it has been discontinued as previously mention. Is there an alternative that can be used? Please advise.

Hey all, I just ordered this exact hose from FordPartsGiant (dotcom) for a total price of $51.85 including shipping. I've ordered from them before and have always been pleased with their service and pricing

The expansion tank shown in post #1 looks to be the 2 quart capacity tank. The OEM expansion tank is more like 4 quarts, liters actually. So have any of the builders using the smaller capacity tanks had an issue?
I am using a 2nd Gen Coyote in a 70 Mustang restomod where I placed my expansion tank in the space where the battery was originally mounted. I made a custom tank with a capacity of about 4 quarts.
My engine was a take out from a 2017 GT, so I simply added a extension to the hose with the check valve to reach my tank. Still going to be awhile before the car is running.
Seeing more of the alternative solutions people have used would be of interest.

Add on question: in addition to the FR3Z-8075-C hose, are there any other special hoses that are required to properly use the Pressure capabilities of the OEM Coolant system?

That's the only hose with anything special, e.g. the one-way check valve. All the others just make the necessary connections with the proper size ends, etc. Not sure how much easier (or cheaper) it would be to use alternates from the Ford parts. But nothing special if you can get things hooked up.
