View Full Version : mid shifter hole location when TKO600 is offset?

Loose installed the engine & trans and noticed the TKO600 sits closer to the passenger side of the transmission tunnel. I've read that this is expected. Its time to cut the hole in the trans tunnel cover for the mid shifter. Did you guys offset the hole in the tunnel cover to match the center of the shifter or can you cut the hole in the center of the tunnel to make it look centered?
Thanks!

I cut the hole offset to line up with the shifter, It’d be pretty hard to make it look centered I think. I also had to cut the crossmember of the chasis to get it to line up.
I’m using a different shifter then FFR’s stock one too.

If you need a blank transmission tunnel top then consider calling Mr. Bill. at F.F.Metal.

I had to go down this path because I'm running a ZF 6-Speed in my Dark Side MK-4.

Is the offset only Coyote/TKO600 applications? I've looked through other build threads and the shifters look centered to me. Maybe its the camera angle...
Thanks GoDad, I do have a blank trans cover ready to drill :)

Sorry, but I know nothing about Ford V8's and TKO set ups since I'm the Chevy Guy in the group.

Doesn't matter about engine or transmission brand. The entire drivetrain is offset to the passenger (right) side an inch or so. Agree with the recommendation to center the hole over the shifter. You can help slightly by bolting the shift handle on the left side of the shifter out of the transmission. But it still may be slightly off center. Normal and don't worry about it.

They are offset due to the differential input being offset.
I centered my TKO 600 by just making a simple spacer between the midshifter shaft and the Forte Tremec Shift rod and knob. I just think it looks better being centered on the console.
