Here were go again
I never painted/ powder coated the raw metal of my ebrake. Is it worth removing everything and painting it? Could I spray it in place? Or paint with POR15 in place? Any real world experience of this rusting and causing significant problems?

I would take it all apart and paint it, either Power coat or POR15. I haven't been too happy with rattle can so far. The problem is that that Ebrake will be constantly exposed to the elements while you are driving. Its a pain, I know, i have take off multiple things and painted/powder coated. Its a mistake I won't make on my second build. :)
I would not leave any raw steel parts unpainted or powder coated, regardless of where the part is on the car. Raw steel rusts, no way around it.

x3 on removing and painting. I mocked mine up fully in raw steal and installed to make sure everything was functioning, then completely removed, disassembled and painted. I use Eastwood chassis black paint (i dont have any experience with POR 15). Same process with the hood hinges and other raw steel items, especially since I store mine in a non-temp controlled garage, during the winter temp changes anything not coated will rust. Think of the fun you'll have installing it for a second time!

Ditto On Never Leaving Raw Steel Unpainted!

Just posted on the other forum, & now here for completeness:
"I recommend you take the assembly apart & paint. If you don't, the pieces will rust. A little surface rust on the outside of the assembly won't hurt anything (just look bad when you're working on the underside of the car), but eventually the moisture & rust will make its way into the spaces between the pieces. This will force those pieces apart, & who knows what problems that will bring.
