Guys, in order to do the start trimming panels, Do I need to apply all the foam and seals to chassis to prep panels. I want to put body on get set, trim panels then remove the body to prep body. Any thoughts or wisdom to be shared?

Yes, you want the bulb seal in place for fitting and body shaping.

Your statement makes it sound like trimming panels is a necessary part of the build. You won't find it anywhere in the instruction manual, and it may or may not be required. In my experience with several builds, the panels are quite precise and require very little trimming. Most of the time, at least for me, if it looks like something needs to be trimmed it's more likely I assembled it incorrectly. So I'd recommend not going there as a first step. Yes, as Jeff said, fit the body with the bulb seal. Then decide if anything needs to be trimmed. Around the trunk sides and rear valance is sometimes required, but not always by any means, and if necessary it's usually very minor. Not unusual to also have to tweak the splash guards a bit. But proceed with caution. As they say, easy to remove, hard to put back.

at the build school - they suggested while the body was on to take a sharpie perpendicular to the aluminum panel and run the sharpie along the body - this makes a small enough gap to install bulb seal while still keeping the shape of the panel to the body contour

After adjusting the hood latches to correct the height of the hood I noticed the front passenger corner is about 1/8" higher than the body.126268 I adjusted the hinges downward as low as it will go. 126207 IS body filler used to get level? Is there anything else that can be done?

I installed the headlights, front and rear turn signals, windshield wipers , windshield, roll bars and etc. to mock up and drill necessary holes in body. Still don't have the doors quite lined up though, working through it. 126273126274126275

Haven't been working on car lately. Today I was looking at a few things and saw that I have a gap between the dash and body, just above the glove box. I was checking it out and dash can not go any higher du to the glove box is against the dash mounting hoop. So looking for suggestions. I could cut a groove in the glove box so the dash mounting hoop can go into the glove box about 1/4"~.127651

A few weeks ago I installed the heater and cut my glove box to accept the heater. This past weekend I bleed the brakes. it took me several days working a couple hrs a day along with some research to finally get it done. During this I did have 2 leaks. Another step down and too many to go to count. Patience and persistance.129398129399

The past few days I installed an AM/Fm bluetooth receiver. I researched and decided on this BOSS Audio Systems MGR350B for $130. It is Marine grade AM/FM receiver with Weather band, bluetooth capability along with good reviews. I picked this one cause of the round face which matched the rest of the gauges.130199130200130201. I belive this will do well to listen to tunes while on drive. kind of like listening to music while riding my motorcycle.

The doors have some issues fitting which WILL require bodywork.

The door fit is normal. Your paint & body guy will appreciate it if you don't cut the hole in the hood or drill the holes for the scoop.

Cheers,
Jeff

GoDadGo,
Thanks for the video. I have been watching some if not all the videos you posted and they were very helpful. All the guys on this forum are very helpful. Also watching the videos deterred me from doing the body work myself. Thanks again.

To the professional builders out there.
I would like to mount the body on the Chassis with body centered on the front by measuring from shock tower to finder as instructions state. Then install all the splash guards and radiator aluminum with riv-nuts and button head bolts, making the panels removable. That way when my body guy can remove panels for body work and paint. I would also install the under-door aluminum panels (these would be permanently fixed). What would the pros and cons be what I am wanting to do?

I'm a big fan of supporting the radiator on the frame.
I did something similar but used the shroud as an integral part of the system.
You can see what I did about 28-32 seconds into the attached video.

https://youtu.be/PCngiKoopkA

My inspiration was Mark Reynolds's design, but with a twist.
I used his fan shroud, which is permanently attached to the radiator.
To Me, It Just Makes Sense To Not Use The Fiberglass Body If Possible!

Progress has slowed a lot. Now I am attempting to mount the front splash guards, I need some guidance. When pinning up seams like I may need to trim the top by+\- 3/4” on the top. When place splash guard in fender well all the way up I still have ~3/4” below the body at bottom. Are my thoughts correct should I trim top. SeE pics. I usually cut off the tab and bend the bottom to make the panel shorter (i.e. less tall) and create a new tab.

Jeff,
Thanks for the guidance. Is there anytime can look for to make sure I have the body on chassis correctly, like all way down?

136705New shoes have arrived. Plan to have mounted and balanced today. Fronts are Michelin Pilot Super Sport275/35ZR/18. Rears are Michelin Pilot Sport 315/30ZR/18. Once they are on the car I probably will have to put some steering rack limiters on the rack.

Well I installed the transmission and found that a tab on the passenger side of transmission is ~1/2” from the e-brake mounting bracket. Hopefully once engine is installed this will not create an issue. I guess if it does I will need to cut that tab off of Transmission.145278145279145280
Also check out pic of how the transmission, driveshaft line up with differential center section.

Any thought or concerns?

Well I received the engine on Friday. Installed Saturday morning. Had to remove a tab on the side of the Transmission cause it was hitting the bracket for the ebrake.147332147333147333. Got in there with a saws all from the bottom. Then all went well. Now waiting on the right headers. I received the kit I did not notice the bolt pattern on the headers and they are for a coyote (I think). Still need to talk to FFR to settle out. Also left to do it wiring & fuel lines. Then start her up.147334

Well, I am one step closer to getting her finished. Drive to Lubbock TX from Midland to get the car inspected by state inspectors to insure care is not built from tolled parts. Then drove back to TX DMV in Midland to get registered. The best part is I drove approximately 2 hrs each way @70-80+ mph. Not one issue. 151049
