Working on my MK4 design. Considering candy apply red with black stripes and black side pipes. Maybe all black out trim.

The question is on the windshield. Can the chrome be sanded and then powder coated. Same for the light bezels.

Any help and suggestions is appreciated.

Yes, everything can. Windshield frame ‘can’ get slightly warped with the heat from the oven. Tail light bezels are easy. Just be delicate when disassembling. Turn signals are a little more challenging as the bezel is a press fit and mine didn’t want to stay on, so used some RTV. We’ll see how they hold up. Only thing you can’t powdercoat is the hood and trunk handles. They have some plastic inside that will melt. I’m using a 2K primer and paint on those.

Hope that helps.

The powder coater will sand blast the parts before coating.

I like the blackout design. I also like candy but talk to your painter about candy before you decide as it's a PITA to repair. Take a look at Harley-Davidson Denim Black -- easy to keep clean, no wax or polish needed.

I can only add a caution. As you may have come across in many threads, the w/s posts are lot of work to get bent and twisted correctly so the w/s fits. So it may not be convenient but I would only coat the w/s stuff after the car is completely assembled.
