I've been searching for IRS suspension donor cars for years, trying to find the "right fit." After mulling over several designs like 135i & Rx8/Miata mult-link, and S2000/Miata/C5/C6 double A-arm, the FFR pin drive width T-bird style setup seems the most straight forward in my situation.
I basically want to do exactly what they did to the Comet Wagon in Street Tech Magazine a few years ago, https://streettechmag.com/2015/08/06/independent-thinking-factory-five-racing-irs-conversion-for-the-comet-wagon/
It looks like FFR is all about their newer Mustang style suspension now, but I need the narrow pin drive width for my application, so that's why I'm interested in the "old setup."
Does FFR still make the pin drive width parts? I believe I would need the upper and lower control arms, upper and lower cages/sub frames, hand brake parts, and coilovers. Hopefully the control arm and coilover mounting location dimensions can be provided too, so I can maintain proper suspension geometry.
Couple random questions about the T-bird style IRS:
Have any brake upgrades been figured out?
I've read about using the newer Mustang bearing/hub in the T-bird spindles. Do you then use a Mustang rotor?
Any advice or tips about this suspension setup?
