View Full Version : Exhaust O2 Sensors (Side Specific?)
Is there a right and left sensor that goes in the coyote? Or, the ones supplied by FFR can be used on either side? One is longer than the other. I would need the longer one on the right side.
Thanks
The sensors themselves are not specific. They perform exactly the same function. The software processing the sensor data will then act on the data depending on what is programmed. For example, in most cars today, there are O2 sensors both before and after the catalectic converters. The software may interpret the data and trigger codes differently for each of those. Wire harnesses may be application-specific.

Electronically they are the same. the long one goes on the right on a Gen 2.

I think your question is being answered. Are you using the Ford Performance control pack? If not, can't be positive about these answers since that's my only experience. (1) The sensors themselves are the same on each side. (2) The harness has legs for each sensor, and they are side specific. The ends of the cables are marked, and the Ford Performance instructions provides the details. If you're not already, highly recommend using both the Factory Five Coyote instructions and the Ford Performance control pack instructions.

Yes, using the Ford control pack. The instructions had the longer one on the left side and the shorter on on the right side, but I need the opposite. I need the longer one on the right side and the short one on the left.

OK, I see from your sig line (should have noticed before...) you have a Gen 2 Coyote. So my previous answer wasn't correct for your situation. The Gen 2 has the connections for the O2 sensor on the engine as part of the engine harness. So it's basically impossible to make the connections on the wrong side. As opposed to the Gen 3 where they're part of the control pack harness and marked as I described. For my Gen 2, Ford did provide O2 sensors with different length leads. Sounds like that's what you have. You can use them on either side however they best fit.

Perfect. Thank you
