I have the Replica Parts one piece nose aluminum:

Is it still a good idea to install the FFR pieces as well? I know the instructions from Mike Everson state that if you already have it installed, you can put his piece right over it.

There is no need to use the FFR parts. What Mike is saying is with a built car you do not need to remove the FFR parts to install his unit

Mikes piece is very nice but it takes lots of manipulating, finagling and fussing without those pieces in the way. Only a glutton for punishment would attempt it with them in place!

Can Mike's piece be installed with the body on?

Yes, and I'm pretty sure installing with the body on is the only way to get it fit properly. My radiator angle dictated some severe trimming; there's no way I could have installed the body with Mike's untrimmed piece installed. I took at least 2" off the front (bottom center section in the picture below). If you've got his piece in hand, you can see from the picture below how much I trimmed.

Thanks for the replies. And yes, Mike said that it needed to be installed with the body on, although I did drill at the top beforehand where it mounts to the 3/4" tubing. I wasn't aware that so much had to be trimmed, but we'll get it buttoned up here in the next couple of weeks.

FWIW installed mine along with the Breeze top piece pre-body work & never had an issue with it.

If the radiator is at 58 degrees, it will pop right in. I just installed one yesterday on a customers car. Gently roll it into an oval and stick it through the nose opening. The just let it go and it will pop into place. Pust the upper points against the frame rail and install a rivet.
