I am in the process of installing my heat barrier, it is a noico 170ml butyl adhesive. This is a closed cell adhesive foam that sticks on cockpit area. I was and am not concerned with sound deadening, ( really? If so buy a Honda). So my question is related to carpet. How would the carpet glue on the butyl? Anyone do this or have any issues with this? Is a spray on this product gonna hold the carpet in place? Thanks in advance

Not sure why the 3M Super 77 or the 3M Super Trim Adhesive wouldn't adhere to foam. Grab a can and try a test piece. The 77 is much cheaper and you can get it at Walmart

Ok cause I had a can of 3m 90 which costed enough, purchased for dash. Gonna go pick up a cheaper 77, and give it a go,thanks,

In my opinion don't use the 77. Theres a reason its cheaper. Get the 3M 90.

I agree with Chad on the 3M 77 or 3M 90 spray adhesive. The stuff works great on pretty much any surface and is used on upholstery foam, so it should work on the foam you installed.

On your comment about sound deadening, I think you missed the point. The sound deadening most of us hope the achieve with the products we've installed have nothing to do with engine noise, exhaust noise, wind noise, etc., but are targeting the hollow tin can noise that the thin aluminium panels transmit without any dampening material. In my opinion, sound dampening/deadening is simply a matter of adding to the overall quality of the build.

Make that another vote for 90. Was very sensitive as to what adhesive I used here in the South due to the summer sun & the car being a daily driver. Some of the guys had issues with 77 debonding in hot climates.

That said agree on sound deadening material. Expensive & not effective in our cars IMHO. You can't stop the wind. At speed, 60+, that is the primary noise source as the side pipes especially with a COYOTE are pretty muted in 5th or 6th. Around town I have no problems hearing to the radio once I am off the throttle.

I just used silicon applied to the back of the carpet. 10k miles and no issues.

As a side note, I used the 3M Super Trim Adhesive myself. About $25 a can, but I think it adheres better and has a little working time over the 77.
