SpinTech Cruiser 7000 Oval outlet Muffler: The CRUISER muffler measures 2 1/4" thick, that is the flattest Performance muffler available! I used the 2.5" oval side exit. It tucks up nicely under the MK4 raised seat area.

I did it on my build. I’ll post some pics

I had a custom exhaust shop make custom headers from 1-5/8 mild steel and use a V-band clamp to attach the pipes to. They were later ceramic coated black

I added 90 degree turns that exit in front of the rear tires. Tubing is 2-1/2” mild steel, now painted black to the mufflers, and aluminum colore from the muffler outlet to the exhaust outlet. I had to make custom hangers

Thank you for all the info Sorry its been awhile . Still deciding if I want to build again its been 20 years since the my first one . Has anyone found or made the flat exhaust pipe like you see on nascar just a though

I am also interested in undercar exhaust, but with a rear exit. I'm pondering a AC 289 Sports Mk.III replica, pure street car, small block, undercar exhaust, no scoop or roll bar and wire wheels.

The challenge I see is exhaust system ground clearance under the main frame cross members of a FFR. A system under these members gets really close to the ground. The rest, around the rear suspension, I believe can be worked out without a lot of stress.

I'm also looking at C3 Corvettes (not either/or, but both; I like C3's.) The C3 makes a nice platform for inexpensive performance upgrades in a cruiser. In a C3 Corvette, the main cross members have two 3" tubes firmly welded in them, and the exhaust pipes go through these holes. I have not ever heard of a frame failure from these welded tubes. They also have engine-hugger headers.

I can understand the angst some might experience in drilling big holes in cross members, but would not this be a more elegant solution? Then run pipes through these holes? And would proper cutting, insertion of a 3" pipe through the member, and good welding not weaken the frame? I mean, the car is light so the stresses are minimal.

And with the absence of side pipes and the gap in front of the footboxes to route them, would this also allow footbox modifications that could allow size 12+'s on a larger human with comfort? Imagine another 1-2" of room to the pedals!

Am I missing something?

(Yeah, I know, that's a "narrow hip" car. True enough. I guess you can't have everything, and a narrow hip conversion is waaaay too much work, and only a mega classic Cobra geek like yours truly would know the difference...)
