I'm thinking of getting the manual, I like a tease.
I think the best option for me is to get the base kit. I'm in Canada and alot of the parts aren't going to be sent here anyway. I do want IRS which means sourcing it myself in Canada. I know alot of people have their opinions on which is better but mine at this time is that I will want new parts, don't want to spend the time removing/reconditioning old parts etc. That leaves me hitting up the local NAPA, Ebay, craig's list and kijiji for what I need. What I would like to know is, what's the difference between the complete kit manual and the base kit manual? Will the complete kit manual help me with the parts I source myself here even if I only have the base kit? Or is the base manual just the complete manual with certain pages left out? Thanks,
Daniel

I've got both manuals - a Complete from the Mott course, a Base that I purchased. I'm going the donor route in Canada, and the Base manual goes into some detail about both donor-part harvesting and preparation. The Complete manual assumes you have the complete kit. If you buy new parts from the suppliers, they will typically supply specific instructions. You could probably use both manuals, but you get the one specific for your kit anyway!

Both are a good read.....

So if I plan on getting the base kit, purchasing the complete manual now ahead of time would be the way to go as the kit will come with the base book anyway?

I have both manuals. I ordered the first one which was a complete build and the base manual came with the kit. I spent a lot of hours reading the complete manual over and over to become familiar with the work involved. I find myself referring to both from time to time and it is nice to have one in the shop and the other in the house. I also have the digital edition which is nice because I automatically get updates via e-mail. As well I can print off just one or 2 pages at a time so that when I am working I don't need to worry about getting the actual manual wet or greasy.

AHH, that's why I've got two copies of my "Canoecraft" book. one for the house, one for the shop.... Guess I'll get a complete kit manual for now and then the base one later.
Thanks guys.
