Just wondering if anyone has fitted a GT engine/trans to the GTM.

At $23k looks like a viable alternative??

It would take a lot to anything but an LS motor or smaller. JMHO, Richard.

For example, there is a reason there is no bolt in the center of the rear waterfall, it would hit the intake. It is that tight. HTH, Richard.

23k for a GT40 engine and the Ricardo Gearbox, seems pretty high to me. Especially for used equipment. Not to mention the fact that you'll have to rework just about everything from the rear cockpit window back in order to make room, and mount each piece.

Sounds pretty expensive to me.

People are asking about how to mount a Viper motor, or an Audi motor, this could be done, it will, as the Stig says, be a bit of work!! if you want to give it a shot, I believe you could do it!! so get on it!!
it is already facing the right direction and has a transmission that is designed to survive the motor. I put one of those motors into a '32 roadster, all steel. I left off the sides of the hood, I had to make all exhaust, reconfig the cooling, and take off all the accessories. then started over with just the min, changed where the belt tensioner is and fitted a much shorter belt.
like I said, a bit of work, but it got done!! no AC, no power steering, no smog, BMW thermostat, custom mount for ALT. new serpentine belt is 18 inches shorter that original and the path is very different from where it was originally. everything spins the correct way and it all works. I say GO GET IT!!

Was just throwing it out there. I got the 5.4 to fit into the Mk4(just) and found the Ford Racing control pack simple to use and 540hp from the factory. With a 6-8 month wait for an $8k box I just though it would be a pretty cool option.

Just buy a totalled Ford GT and fix it. It will be less work than building a GTM.....
