I am running out of options, hope someone here can help. I need to have a good tune done on my Holly Sniper. Having a hard time finding someone with the expertise willing to tune it for me. Have a couple of leads but nothing solid. Please post if you have any suggestions for someone not to far from Sacramento. Thanks.

Have you tried the Sniper forum?

I’ve been on it but have not asked there yet. That will be next, thanks for the prompt.

Brien,

Not near Sac, but I think I've found a tuner for mine. I will give him a try once my car is on the road. I'll report back on any results. Maybe some of what I learn will help others.

There is a napa auto shop at 900 riverside in roseville just north of cirby. I talked to him once and he was going to help set up my car. They also build race cars there, it looks to be large shop and very clean. Might give them a call!

Thanks Olli. I’ve corresponded with him some already and he is one of my previous leads. Although he seems competent he does not sound eager to work on my problem.

Brien,

If you're anything like me, you're probably close to a decision point. I'm going to see if a tuner can resolve my EFI issues, but if this turns into a constant battle, I'll bite the bullet and transition to a carburetor. I wanted EFI for the simplicity and reliably easy starts and drivability. Haven't seen any of these yet.

Hi Dave,
Not that desperate yet. I really like they way it runs most of the time, just need to get this one area in the lower RPM range sorted. Sounds like you are having more issues with it?

Fouling plugs again. I think it has a lot to do with a couple of key factors:

The cold coolant fuel enrichment
Idle fuel map
Not really being able to drive the car, but a lot of idling and short start/stop cycles
And possibly confusing the system by running without full exhaust. The O2 sensor may be getting a bad reading-- like having an exhaust leak.

The tuner I spoke with also said that he's seeing a lot of Snipers that are not properly regulating the fuel pressure. Holley has a fix and he can apply it easilly.

We shall see.

I think you are right. You need to get a proper drive in with a complete system so it can self tune. Mine has adjusted very well in all regimes except just above idle to 2000 RPM. Runs slightly rough with a slight hesitation, but only in that RPM range.
