I have thought more (off and on) about what to do with the body alum as it just looks boring compared to the other parts of the car. I saw a thread where a guy created a swirl effect ( I believe on a build thread, sorry couldn't find) on a panel so I thought I would see if I could repeat the process. So I took a 3" disc on a drill and randomly scufffed the disc back and forth until I got the effect that looked somewhat pleasing to the eye. This was after multiple attempts with scotchbright, sand paper, and other materials. This was the easiest and most reproducible thing I tried. I passed it by the artist (my wife, Trish). She agreed. I covered the etching with clear as it is a little rough to the touch. Time will tell if it is durable and relatively maintenance free. I liked it because it changes with light and angle of sight. It looks a little like flames (OMO). I thought this might be helpful since a lot of the processes involve either complicated, expensive, or difficult to reproduce methods. This took a couple of minutes and I think will be easy to repeat even with panels in place on the car (with care). Thoughts? =CONFIG]3968[/ATTACH]3970

I like it. What really counts is that Trish likes it!

I like what you have come up with. there is a process called Turning or Turned Aluminum that is similar. A lot of hot rods use it for dash boards, even seen a few firewalls. If you Google Turned Aluminum Dash I think you will find what I'm talking about.
