Anyone know where to find a rear view camera that can be used instead of a rear view mirror? My 818R has no windscreen and therefore no rear view mirror. I have a backup camera installed and its great for, well backing up. But when driving forward you can not make out cars back more than say 20ft. I'm looking for a camera that has a longer focus and narrower field of view.

Ever seen something like that?

I have one in mine that is on 24/7 displaying on a screen. It works great for anything under 45 mph, past that it’s harder to see and focus if someone is there. 115802

I have the same issue with my current backup camera. At speed you can not focus on anything. I gues I would need an image stabilized camera with a longer focal length to see farther back.

http://www.aimsports.com/en/products/rear-camera/index.htm I have one of these built into my MXP dash with a button on the steering wheel to page flip to it when needed for driving or backing up. But haven’t tested it at the track yet.

I know some folks that use systems from DCE in there race cars pricey though: http://www.dcemotorsport.com/Home/RearCameras

And lastly there was a Company at Sema last year with some camera system Gentex I think it was and if I remember they had them on a Toyota LeMans car And they are the OEM supplier to several manufactures

I have a 19 Subaru Accent and the “rear view mirror” is a full time camera with its display built into what looks like a regular review mirror. It was really hard in the beginning to get use to it, at speed it was great but you forgot how far and wide it reaches until you try to use it to backup instead of the separate back camera / display in dash ICE, Thank goodness for backup sensors that activate the abs and keep you from backing into things!

I looked into this a while back as I wanted 3 screens for all mirrors for rear view. I now see the 2019 Lexus comes with side mirror cameras.

The following is links I saved awhile back, although I have not done anything with it as I am not ready for it at this point.

This was a good starting point adapting and making my own.

Up there in price - Possibly best system

Hope this helps? Of course I will follow your lead once you come up with a perfect solution, lol.

Unfortunately other things became more important and I gave up trying to find a solution that was cost effective.

I know a couple of R builders are using this center mirror set up along with the side mirrors.
