Hey everyone.

I wanted to give a shout out and a big thank you to Henry Renaud (65 Cobra Dude) for all the work he did on my Mk1.
He’s completed work on 23 Factory Five cars from doing a partial refresh like mine, to complete builds from boxes to ready for paint.
Henry did the following on my car:

- Replaced my wheels and included the spinner safety wires and roll pin system to keep the threaded adapter in place while installing the spinners.
- Installed rear coil overs from FFR.
- Converted to power brakes.
- Converted rear drum brakes to disc so I now have 4 wheel power disc brakes.
- Installed the LED headlight kit from Breeze Automotive.
- 5 lug conversion and because of his knowledge and experience noticed I needed concentric rings from Mike Forte.
- Installed the submarine belts.
- Installed ceramic coated heat shields on my side pipes.
- Installed rubber door trim that I was missing.
- Found and closed a gap in my firewall near the steering column that was letting hot air in.
- Went through the entire car to make sure all nuts/bolts were properly torqued and that the car was safe.

My car runs great, handles great and stops great!
I can’t thank him enough for his excellent work and he has a new shop that is a dream shop to work in!
I’m collecting parts for my next project on my car, a 400hp top end kit and he’s my guy to do it!

Old wheels off and work begins.

Edit: Never mind - looked back and saw it. Sorry for the oversight!

Looks great! I bet its a pleasure to drive now! Did you install LED headlights?

Thanks

Geoff

Mark-

Congratulations on a fine refresh by one of the masters! Well done Henry, as always! Car looks great, and I know the upgrades will make it that much more satisfying.

I like the new garage. Those metal buildings sure have come a long way.

Thanks for the post about your upgrades, as well as to see what Henry has been up to; well done to all!

Regards,

Steve

A couple of questions, Mark:
1. Were the concentric rings needed to prevent caliper interference with the wheel, tire rubbing, or something else.
2. I assume Henry sealed off the half moon area where the upper steering shaft exits the foot box. I have heat leakage there, too. How did he seal it?
Thanks, Phil

Phil,

I’ll answer for Mark. The concentric rings were needed because the ridge on the axles has a smaller diameter than the holes on the rotors. These rotors are hub-centric which means the ridge on the axle is what centers the rotors. The rings simply take up the space between the axle ridge and the rotor. If not installed, the back wheels would hop and feel unbalanced. Long answer but wanted to make sure you understood. I filled the half moon area with the foam that you get from FFR that grows to twice it’s size when unwrapped.
