Higher temp fan thermostat switch part number?

I’m running the FFR supplied 185 deg fan on switch hooked up to RF wiring harness with a 192deg engine thermostat. Looking for a higher temp range switch so my fan doesn’t run constantly as well as for 20 min after I shut the car off, even in cold weather.

Anybody have any part numbers for a suitable switch? I’m in Canada so something I can get from a parts store as opposed to summit or jegs is preferable so I don’t spend triple the part price in shipping.

I’ve done some searching on the forums but haven’t found what I need.

Are you sure the thermostat is OK? I'd first try a 185ºF t-stat.
Where is your fan switch located, in the bottom of the radiator like in our hotrod?

Yep everything is working as it should. I changed the engine thermostat from 180 to 192 this winter as it was running way too cool in cold weather. On my gauge engine usually runs about 85c on open toad, gets up to just under 90 in traffic, down to 80 with the heater on in cool weather.
Switch is located in the thermostat housing on the rad side of the engine thermostat.
Fan comes on around 85c which is 185f. Even if engine is turned off below that temp, with fan off, switch usually turns fan on shortly after parking as the heat from the engine starts warming the coolant.

I’ve seen changing to a different switch suggested as a fix others have done, I just can’t find any info when I search.

Also I should add that the switch turns on at 185 but I think they are set up to turn off at 165 or something

I dislike fans that run after the engine is off. They are only cooling the water in the radiator. They don't really do anything for cooling the engine down.

Your thermostatic switch isn't the issue with the fan continuing to run. The RF harness used to only run the fan when the ignition was on but they changed to "always hot" a couple years ago. I just did a first start on a new build last week and the stupid fan ran for 30 minutes after shutting it off. Not now...I rewired it to keyed power!

Any easy rewiring instructions to change it to keyed power? Maybe something to wait till the body is off for paint one day?

I realize the reason it runs is because it is always powered, however as it is now it basically turns on anytime the thermostat opens at all, which isn’t necessary, and once on never turns off.

Wouldn’t a switch better matched to my engine thermostat make sense?

I run a 185 degree thermostat and a on at 200 and off at 185 degree fan switch. It is wired to the hot in run circuit. The system works perfectly now. I initially had an annoying run on after the ignition was shut off if the fan was operating. The fan was back feeding enough current to keep the ignition firing. Installed a diode in the fan circuit to fix that.

I’ll look for the part number and post it if you want.

I'm thinking the right way to control the fan is to put the sensor in the radiator outlet line. We really want the fan to control the radiator temp, while the thermostat
regulates the engine temp.

I had the same annoying problem. Called RF and they described how to rewire it to keyed power. Works great now.
