OK guys - taking advantage of this 3-day weekend and making great progress on the donor tear down.

I'm stuck at the moment on the rear wiring harness removal and I'm looking for tips for how to get this out. I've got a 93 Mustang LX Convertible donor and I've carefully removed all light blubs, ground wires and plastic wall attachments inside the trunk all the way up to the cockpit driver's side. The harness is loose and ready to come out.

What I cannot solve is how to get it out. Since I have a convertible, the area between the trunk and the rear driver side leaves very little wiggle room to move anything either backward or forward. Look at the picture and you'll see what I mean.

For those who had the fox body convertible tear down, how did you remove the rear harness? Pull from the trunk side or pull from the cockpit side? Do you have any tips for making more maneuvering room between the trunk & rear cockpit? 2 photos showing from rear cockpit view & trunk view.

Thanks, Jake.

I bought a donor pallet with the harness already removed, but there was no evidence that it had been pulled through any tight spaces. All connectors were present and undamages, and the bulbs were all still in their mounts.

When assembled, there was either a clever routing you just haven't spotted yet, or something was bolted or rivited on to the car after the harness was put in place that you should be able to unbolt or drill out.

Jake, I used an 89 LX convertible donor for my roadster build. You basically have 2 choices to get this section of the harness out. You can either; 1) Enlarge the opening w/a saw so as to allow the harness to fit through, or 2) peel back the electrical tape/wire loom wrapped around the harness at a point near where it is stuck in your photo, label each wire, cut the harness, remove the harnesses & splice back together.
Guess which one I did...

LOL - I'm guessing you used the sawzall.

I was thinking this over last night and came to those 2 basic conclusions as well. Thanks for confirming. It'll be a shame to cut away all that metal holding up the convertible top.

Thanks again.

I had the same issue and just cut it in half and re-connected on the Roadster.
