Anyone else having this problem with TredWear? I've tried just about every cleaner project I can think of to get them back to solid white. It's almost as if the tire heat is causing them to discolor. Soaps, 99% isopropyl alcohol, lacquer thinner, acetone and others aren't working. It helps, but does not get it to where it needs to be.

My first suggestion wold be to contact Tread Wear.

Secondly, in a galaxy a long time ago, I used to have a couple of early v-8 (flathead) fords, with the wide white walls. The only cleaner that would really clean the whites was Formula 409. Others at that time were also using Wesley's tire bleach.

I would try Wesley's first. BUT.... be very careful. It's powerful stuff. It will corrode your polished wheel surfaces.

You took me back to a Happier Time when I'd wash the family cars with my Pop and Brother and we used 409 on the White Walls.

You didnt mention bleach?

One thing that comes to mind is the liquid shoe polish with the little foam aplicator on top, i know back in the day we had some that was white! I think it was shoe polish???

I haven't tried pure bleach yet, but will give it a shot too. The Wesley's was bought out by Black Magic a few years back and they have changed the formula. Most of the reviews now say it's pretty much useless. I'll give it a shot too though. I ordered Coker Tire 91800 Wide White Whitewall Cleaner today as well.

Works on whitewalls too. If you're using ANY type of tire shine (Armour All or other) STOP. That's what is discoloring the white letters.

I always used SOS pads on white-wall tires. Mind you It's been 30 years at least, since I had a vehicle with white walls..Product may have changed by now.

Wesleys always worked for me in my raised white letter days.

Most of the billboards on the original Cobra's running them, were scuffed up looking after a short time, the lettering having just been painted on.
Leaving the discoloration, could be considered an old school patina..:)
