View Full Version : TD Motion Lift Brackets
Does anyone have any experience with the TD Motiion lift brackets and know if they will work for our builds? I don't currently have any brackets for lifting the engine and transmission and these seems like a good option. Could I just hook the chain to header bolts or will I run into problems with clearance and balance there?

I've done both. First, point of understanding, the Coyote engine has cast in and tapped lifting points. On the LH side/front, and the RH back. So it's not necessary to chance using header bolts or whatever. You can use the built-in locations and they're very robust. So for Roadster #8674, I used homemade lifting brackets with a chain. Worked OK. For the Gen 3 Coupe, I ponied up for the TD Motion brackets. Really nice pieces and I recommend them. But be aware for the Gen 3 Coupe, the LH side/front location does interfere with the upper rails on the frame if you install them as intended, e.g. with spacers. Without the spacers, it just fits. The challenge I found with either lifting mechanism was getting the Coyote to properly go "tail down." Even with a balancer.
Thanks again Edwardb. a recommendation from you carries a lot of weight with me, so I went ahead an ordered a set. Thanks for the heads up about not using the spacers on the LH side. I did see in your build how you hooked up a ratchet strap to pull the transmission tail down, I was planning to try that myself. I am going to have some family over to help as well, which will be nice, but none of us have dropped in a engine before so it will be a learning experience for us.

I used the TD Motion brackets to install a Coyote and 6R80 transmission in my '33 Hot Rod. Worked well, but there is ~0 clearance between the mounting bolts and firewall on the PS. There is no space to back out the bolts so I can remove the bracket. Haven't decided yet how to address that issue at final install - maybe an access panel cut into the firewall? Keith

I have been using a set of the TD Motion lift brackets on a 2nd Gen Coyote with a 6R80 going into my Mustang restomod. No real issues, however I have needed to round the corners on the brackets as the headers I am using from Ultimate headers were coming in contact with the brackets. After trimming one corner on each bracket, they fit better. This is more a issue with the design of the header flanges than the brackets.
