Getting ready to install my fuse box today. Are 3 holes needed for a coyote install? The instructions are a little vague.

Thanks

I have two. One in the center of the firewall and one on the inner DS footbox. My engine is a Gen 2 - not sure if the Gen 3 is any different.

This picture shows the center firewall hole.

You need the one larger hole Al_C pictured as a minimum for the main Gen 2 Coyote harness leg into the cockpit area. The rest depends on how you lay out your overall installation, e.g. location of the PCM, how you route your sending unit wires, how you wire your Ron Francis harness, etc. There's no one single approach. The Gen 3 Coyote is the same BTW.

Everyone does it a little differently. First - Look at/Layout your wiring harnesses that need to go forward. Where are you adding a hole for the rear wiring harness?

You have:
The main harness for the Coyote
Alternator and starter harnesses
Sending unit harnesses
Rear wiring harness

Are you combining wires thru a single hole? Are you going to have a Master Cutoff switch? If so, How are you powering your main (chassis) fusebox? Another wire/hole through the firewall? I suggest you lay out ALL of your wiring harnesses.... think about which side of the engine they need to be routed to and verify they will reach.

Al's wiring (pictured above) is a very clear looking set-up. Not sure where the sending unit wires are. AL - Please chime in.

So, the goal of this post is to give you no answers to your question.... But wanted you to think through your set-up and what YOU think will look good.

PS: I ended up with 4 holes. Ended up combined Alternator/starter and Sending unit harnesses.

Interesting. Added no holes for my generation 1 COYOTE. Routed wires through existing pass throughs at the ends of the firewall.
