View Full Version : Hood Lock Brackets

Hi,

There were a few coupe owners/builders who were interested in a set of brackets that I designed and had made to allow for Triumph GT6 locks to be installed in the coupe hoods so you can lock the latches. The locks are designed to work with the latches that come with the kit. The bracket positions and supports the locks.

The locks look like the following:

When installed with the Triumph TR6 lock set ( part # 562116 ) the look like:

http://www.mycoupe.ca/modules/wordpress/images/20090115_1.jpg

http://www.mycoupe.ca/modules/wordpress/images/20090115_2.jpg

I got a quote for making 25 sets from the machine shop. I need to know if there is any demand before I get them made. I need to know as I would become a bronze vendor here before I would sell any. They would cost 40 dollars per set plus shipping. It includes a template for drilling the holes. Since I have to outlay a fair bit of $$$ to make a few sets and bring the price down, I don't want to lose money since I never planned to get into making parts. So if you are interested in a set, post to this thread and if there is enough demand, I will pay the money to become a bronze vendor and start selling them.

This is only for the brackets and and templates. The locks and attaching hardware would have to be sourced else ware.

Hi all,

Keep spreading the word. We need some several more people to step up to make this possible. I'm working on the instructions and template in the hopes that others will add their names to the list. Thanks for the support.

I have mixed emotions about this well designed and executed upgrade but am leaning to yes. So if you do need only one more set to go to yes, then count me in. Great work on the car, by the way.

Also onboard from a thread on FFcars is "Rich A" , so we are up to 9.
Everyday I check both forums wondering if I should order the locks.

Only about halfway.

Ron, I think that more orders might come in after reviews from customers who have installed them start coming in.
I ordered and recieved my lock cylinders from "The Roadster Factory" in Pennsylvania

Hi all,

I just thought I would give everyone an update. Due to the machineshop moving to another location. Things got a little delayed. I should hear back this week and if everything goes good. I might start shipping out next week. Once you see me as a paid vendor, then I will be ready to start selling and shipping.

Just wanted to give everyone an update. It took the machineshop more time than expected to move and get the machines back up and running. The parts are in the queue and I hope to have some good news soon.

why do the holes need to be redrilled? Isn't it the same latch?

May want a set also.

Marc,

I don't think I said that they needed to be re-drilled. They should fit with no changes.

Hi Ron

It wasn't you who said it. I may have misunderstood one of the other posts.

I'll take a set if you have any left.

I could take them with/without the bends since I will be flattening them out anyway to match my latches that I also put in a vice to flatten the tabs as others have done in order to bring the latches more flush with the body.

Tim,

The bend goes inward and is designed to straighten the latch in the opening. These were designed so the latch would work with no modifications at all.

Hi all,

The brackets will be picked up on Friday. They will be ready to be shipped out at that time. I am now also a "vendor" and can advertise.

http://www.factoryfive.com/images/banners/ffforum/Ron_Schofield.jpg

Payment can be via cheque or money order, but paypal is the best. The final price is the 40 dollars. I will ship out whatever way you want and there is no handling fee.

If you want to purchase a set, email me at coupe@eastlink.ca.

I will also be selling custom vin plates and will be available to do custom gauge artwork for speedhut gauges for those who want them.

Information on those can be found on my blog page here.

Hi Ron

I ordered my GT6 bonnet locks.

I tried sending Paypal but it said you had not registered yet. Let me know when you are set up for payment. Also, I am assuming the 40.00 is US.

Thanks
