Is it OK to mount the flange bearing for the steering shaft on the inside of the drivers footbox, instead of outside as shown in the manual? Having it on the outside, the shaft is just a little too long to get onto the splines of the rack, but if its inside everything fits together nice. It doesn't look like relocating the bearing to the inside is a problem but am I missing something here?

If I had it to do over again, I would have mounted on the inside. I have it on the outside as the instructions suggest and you have to pack a lunch to pull the steering shaft off of the adapter.

I wish they would change the manual. It needs to be on the inside, or send a 3/4" shorter shaft.

Lots of people have installed on the inside. Makes it easier to remove the steering rack, if needed in the future..

You can put it on the inside, but may have to file or grind a bit off the lip to make it sit flat. Try it and you'll see...
