AC Condenser Mounting

Can anyone think of a reason why it would matter if the AC condenser is mounted with the large fitting at the top vs the bottom? The instructions call for the large fitting to be at the top, but I think the hoses will route better the other way around. I can't imagine why the orientation of the of condenser would matter, but thought I'd ask just to make sure.

Actually now that I've researched it some more, I'm starting to think that it does matter because the liquid needs to accumulate near the bottom. Could probably delete this thread.
