Registering a GTM in NY?

Does anyone have any good insight into what the laws are for New York? Will it have to pass a smog test? Will the owner need receipts for everything on the car? How much of a hassle is it?

I have registered a GTM in NY. It was easy.

You need to prove where you got the major parts. Motor transaxle etc.

The car is Registered as a “custom”. Which is anything that is not a production car.

You need to add rear side marker lights.

Ie red and amber lights that are visible from side profile. I was able to pass the stock amber front turn signals pushing them way out when mounting them then
added side marker red lights for the pictures I sent DMV Albany.

A red trailer marker light works. I put mine in the duct behind the rear wheel. Looked good.

That’s it. Once the car passes normal safety inspection like any other car you are done. No smog test. I said it has c5 corvette smog equipment.
