Battery Question

I was working on the stereo and hazard switch wiring tonight and had disconnected the negative terminal on the battery. I looked over and the dash hazard lights were lit up. I then switched the key counterclockwise and the gauges all did their self check. I double checked the battery and the negative was indeed disconnected. Is it possible to still get power from the battery with just the positive terminal connected or do I have an issue somewhere?

Edit: Disregard. I can tell it’s getting late. I had forgotten that I also had a smaller ground connected to the x frame.
