My brake lights are always on and when I push the pedal they go off. Seems like it should be a simple solution, probably a problem with how I wired the switch? I tried moving the leads on the switch to the position shown and I got no lights at all. I also switched their respective positions and nothing changed. Any ideas? Thanks!

Mark,

I had a similar issue when I first wired my car; brake lights working opposite the way they should. Moving the wires to the set of connectors shown with your yellow arrow corrected that. If you've done that and the brake lights don't come on at all, be sure the switch is adjusted so that as the pedal is released the button fully extends. The other possibility is that the switch is bad.

Thats not a brake light switch, that's the clutch safety switch. Unless they changed switch design

Rich,

My kit shipped with two of the switches shown. One set of leads is used to operate as the clutch switch, and the other set as the brake light switch.

Like Papa said; change to the other set of connectors. I had the same issue. The assembly manual is wrong.

Good point! I originally wired per the picture in my previous post, but that was not correct. After switching to the other set of connectors, the circuit worked as intended. I don't have my car here and couldn't recall which connectors worked, but it was opposite the on when the pedal was not pressed condition.
