Guys,

I made the firewall cutout for my heater/defroster according to the F5 instructions. I need to make/position the cutout holes for the wiper motor. Is there a way to locate the wiper motor mounting holes without having the car body on the chassis as required in the F5 instructions for the wiper install?

Thanks,
Damien

If your firewall is attached, you should be able to add the wiper motor. If you hold a straight edge at the top of the firewall, parallel to the floor, that should simulate the body position. Before attaching the wipers, make sure you can bend the drive tube.... without any sharp bends. Most people use tubing other than what was supplies. The FFR tubing is hardened and almost impossible (not sure if anyone successfully achieved) to flare it.

As Ducky says, you can easily locate the wiper mount without the body in place. Mock up the location of your blower in the engine compartment, and then tuck the body up under the 3/4" tube. Even though there's not a lot of room, there are lots of places for the motor to go. Play around with it to find a place that will make the tubing easy. Also, consider riv-nuts into the firewall so that if you ever have to change the wiper motor, you don't need a helper to hold the back side of the wiper mount bolts.
