Alright so I need some help here, my dad just finished his mk4 kit car recently and was involved in a racing accident that left him with neck injuries (different car). I noticed in the forum several people talking about possible headrests that Mount to the driver roll bar, I’m not super good at fabricating one of my own and was hoping someone could point me in the direction of someone who sells them or builds them. Would be greatly appreciated because he may be in a neck brace for the remaining of the summer and he wants to drive the car around but can’t due to no headrest , worst case I can replace the seat with a full race seat but I don’t think he’d like that at all

What about putting in some 17" Kirkey's?

This Drag Race Style 55 seat is like their Vintage Low Backs but with the head rest built in.

NOTE:.. I've recently ordered one just for play days at NOLA Motorsports or Wednesday nights at Gulfport Dragway.

Since it’s a surprise I want to try to make the new seat a last resort since I’m not sure if he will like the look he wants the classic look for everything on it, and the headrest is subtle enough

you have a few options. All have been addressed on this forum or the other.

1. replace the current seats with ones that offer head support.
2. incorporate aftermarket headrests into the current seats
3. fabricate your own head rests.

I haven't come across anyone who makes them so I fabricated my own based on the effort of another forum member.

Its not really hard to do. The pads are actually wheelchair thigh pads and the brackets that attach the main brace holding the pads I ordered off Amazon. A drill, grinder, level, and some paint are the only tools you need.

They work ok. If I am rear ended, at least I have something between my head and the back of the body cowl. I have recently opted to replace the low back seats with Cobra Clubman seats. Once I have them installed, I will ditch the headrests.

When that happens, would you be interested in selling your wheelchair/leg rest head rests?

If I didn't have Clubman's on order, and was seeking to keep an original look/low back seats, post #24 from John4337 is the way to really do it right.

And a different approach to the same mouse trap.

I've seen a lot of different versions way above my fabrication skills.

Cheap and effective Skidd. Saw when you implemented it and said “I can do that”. Done!
