Has anyone considered or actually used some type of insulation or cover for under the hood. I know the other choices are sanding and smoothing or filling to make it smooth. Will there be too much heat build up if I use some covering?
Thanks for any input.

I just did a light prep and covered with bed liner.

I plan to lightly sand and smooth the underside and paint it. I would think any insulation would have the undesired effect of keeping the heat in and possible transfering more to the footbox area. I'm sure others will weigh in with some other ideas.
Bed liner does sound like a good idea, I wonder if it adds much weight.

I did some extensive changes to the hood. Since the underside of the hood is what you see a lot of when you show off your engine. I used foam core and 3M HSRF to fill in areas and box others off to make the finishing easier. Once I get around to it, I will place a layer of fiberglass over the foam core. I plan to fill and sand it smooth and paint it white and black.

Here are the headlamp areas boxed off.

Here is the front of the nose boxed in.

I also used some foam core to make the hood opening edge one inch thick which will allow for a rubber gasket seal to the new rad ducting that I designed.

The new duct rad is designed for two fans.

While we are talking about hoods, I also designed and added a lock to the hood. It was easy since the original Triumph had them.

Hank,

Thanks. I posted a new build document on my build site. It details the design and provides documents and instructions to recreate the design.

Ron, I sent you a PM. Really hope you offer a latch lock kit, and if not I hope you will at least consider selling the reinforcement plates. Nice work as always.

Tim,

Thanks for the kind words. I will check to see how much a set of plates will cost if I get a few sets. I will post when I know.

Ron, If you do produce any, I would be interested in a set.
