I lost my logins and had to create a new account . It’s my first post in a long time. A friend of mine was talking about what options he would want if he built a roadster. I have built 4 ffr roadsters , all were 302/5 speed. My last build was in 2007. I know things have changed in the last 12 years. Would a coyote motor with an automatic be possible ?
Thanks

Absolutely! The Coyote is a pretty easy fit, as long as the basic kit is set up for it; some of the foot box panels are different.
The tranny is not difficult, either. Lots of people have C4's, C6's, AOD's, and AODE's. I would suggest using the 6 speed auto from a late model Mustang.

Most modern automatics, including those used in late model Mustangs, are electronically controlled. Until somewhat recently weren't supported by Ford Performance as a standalone, like their crate motors. You were forced to figure it out for yourself, which for many of us (including me) isn't an option. They do however now offer a supported Coyote crate and automatic package. Their part number M-9000-PMCA. Includes the 6R80 6 Speed automatic transmission. It might fit in a Roadster. Not without some modifications though I would guess. But then other autos do too as well from what I've seen. These are pictures for the 6R80 next a Tremec T-56, which some have fit in the Roadster with minor changes. The automatic is shorter, which is a good thing. Is a little fatter though and the rear mount is in a different location. The driveshaft flange is different than our usual slip yoke too. Not a big deal, but another difference. Also, Roadsters don't require any different sheet metal now for a Coyote. Factory Five made the wider panels standard on all kits, regardless of engine, a couple years ago.
