I didnt see any 289’s driving in the parade in the video posted in the LCS thread. However i did breifly see the white slabside parked in the video. I’m really surprised the 289 is not that popular. Maybe ill drive over there one year.

Slabside replica's really haven't been around as long as the 427SC version, so it stands to reason there would be less of them. ERA has a nice 289 street version available now, but the FFR version is fairly recent, and is the FIA car, not a street version.

I get the feeling that most people prefer the 427. IIRC, the FFR 289 has been on the market for five years or so, yet the sales seem to be few and far between. Yes, there are a couple that have finished in the last year or two and a few more in the home stretch, but again, many more mkiv cars have crossed the finish line in that time period.

Maybe it's the reputation/mystique of the big block version? Maybe the body style just has greater appeal?

I love vintage racecars of that era. Ferraris, Aston Martin, Jaguar, and the like. My old boss bought an original 289 Cobra in 1965. A co-worker/friend was with me when we went over his house and saw the Cobra parked in his garage. My friend wasn’t impressed and asked "Why didnt he buy the 427. We are Americans; we want bigger, faster, and better."

Any idea what the numbers are for the FFR 289 sales?
The FIA version slabside, that FFR sells, (as beautiful as it is), is not much like the 289 street version, which may appeal to a bigger audience. Be curious to know what kind of numbers ERA. and other replica maker's, are selling with their 289 street versions?

I agree that many would prefer the brutal, muscle car imagery that the 427SC has, vs the more classy look of the Slabside.

Unfortunately I don't know any numbers. I love the street version as well. It would be great to see FFR offer one but the sales probably wouldn't justify the expense in development.

I love my 289, and being a small block guy it appeals to me. I’m confounded when I see a 427 replica with a 302 in it. And I’m just as baffled by 289 bodies with 427’s in them. I asked at Factoryfive once about how many 289’s had rolled out the door, but they couldn’t give me an answer. And the 289’s did win all those races. ;)
