View Full Version : Red Koni Shock Orientation?

I have the base (red) Koni shocks and I'm confused as to whether to mount them body up or body down. The manual appears to show the front mounted with body up and the rear mounted body down (it only mentions body down if you are using the gray double adjustable).

How do you guys have them mounted? My gut would say it doesn't really matter (most shocks don't care), but I feel like I read a post at some point that said the Koni shocks do act differently depending on their orientation. Right now I have it like the manual shows (body up front, body down rear), but thought I'd check first before I commit. Thanks!

The RED Koni's can be mounted either way.

I've got the fronts with the adjustable color on top with my rears on the bottom.

You can see them in the video shown below:

Thanks! That's probably how I'll go as well.

FYI, this is the post I was referring to earlier: https://www.ffcars.com/forums/42-factory-five-gtm-forum/281715-koni-shocks-acting-different-upside-down.html

But I couldn't tell if this was for the same set of shocks being used in the Coupe and Roadster.

The Type-65, 289 FIA and MK-4 all use the same components.

Resurrecting this on... if using the Koni red shocks and setting all the suspension at race height, the threaded ride height adjustment collar hits on the lower aft mounting tab. Are folks installing them upside down if setting at race height? The manual is clear on the silver double adjustable shocks but suggests you only mount them body up for the reds, regardless of which mounting hole. Thanks in advance!

As stated in earlier posts, the red Koni shocks can be mounted in either body up or down orientation.
