View Full Version : About to start fitting the body, are there some "must read" threads I should study?

Like just about everything else on this build, I have never done any work with fiberglass before. I looked over most of the body work sections of the manual but was wondering if there are some really good threads in here somewhere that I should take a look at. Please post links if you have them. I don't plan to paint myself, but I would at least like to fit the body, hood, trunk, doors, mount up the windshield, roll bars, lights, latches, etc... prior to shipping it off to an expert to do the rest.

Thanks,
David

This is on the other forum but is one of the best. Do a bodywork search for anything by Jeff Kleiner or J. Miller (da bat) and others.

Be sure to communicate with your bodywork/painter for what not to do. Some have made it harder for them to complete their work.

George listed the main one.

Here's another good one I bookmarked: https://www.ffcars.com/forums/17-factory-five-roadsters/560129-carl-s-mk-4-body-paint-works.html

This angle is especially helpful: https://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?32003-Body-On-and-Off

100% agree!

If you are doing bodywork yourself I highly recommend this book. Not fiberglass specific, but it really goes into panel gap, which most people get, and panel flow, which some guys completely miss.
