I mocked-up my heater over the weekend, and the template holes all line up fine. My question is this: the only thing holding the blower to the inside heater core is 6 little screws into plastic. Doesn't seem like a very sturdy setup. The instructions say to use a little Hi Temp RTV silicone on the inside to prevent air leakage. I suppose using more of the silicone, all around the air passage might add some strength to the assembly. Has anyone run into a problem with blower/core connection coming apart, and are there any suggested mods to strengthen this connection? Thanks!

So far so good over a few winters. Been in place for 10,000 miles since March 2015

I have to tell you, I followed the instructions and did the silicone and 6 little screws. Everything seems to actually be pretty sturdy with no problems. I did put the silicone on both sides of the firewall.

I've not heard of any problems with that mounting, BUT... I just had to do something better. Here is what I did. https://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?20883-Vintage-Air-mounting-modification

Instead of using silicone, I used 3M strip caulk. I figure, if the heater core ever leaks, I can easily remove the unit for service, as the strip caulk is not an adhesive. The six screws seem to be adequate for attachment.
