Just was cruising the good ol' craigs list and found this ad and thought maybe someone might want to jump on it. Only $3200 which could make the difference for those planning on doing a 818 on the super cheap.

Seems to be the original owner too which is always nice.

Meh, front-end wreck. If someone gets it the main thing you need to look for is to see if the wreck messed up the timing belts. If it destroyed the belts then there is a good chance the pistons hit the valves and you'll likely need a rebuild, along with new steering rack and front-driver spindle and hub.

A 20-25mph front corner impact on my 2005 STI took out the timing belt and destroyed the engine. Not fun.

Even if there's valve collisions there's a good chance the pistons made it out fine, and having the heads rebuilt and adding a timing cover, belts, tensioners, etc will cost less than the difference between that car and an un-wreaked car.

My buddy just picked up built sti heads which were completed under $1400 which included a TON of work to them. Larger valves, extreme portwork for a street engine, complete bowl work, fully assembled etc. It would have cost much less than half that if it were just a stock rebuild with mild work.

And if you needed a new bottom end they can be found super cheap. $3200 for all your other parts + a mock up engine which might be fine is still a deal. Offer him $2800 if you find a broken timing belt upon inspection.

I'm resurrecting and taking over this thread for people who find cool stuff that someone else may want for their 818.

If I had a place to keep it, or if I were MUCH closer to building, I'd absolutely consider buying this engine.
